Cupid Asleep- 1897

The copyrigth date of 1879 also appears on the back. The artist is M.B. Parkinson. It is entitled No. 2085 Cupid Asleep. It was published by taber Prang Art. Co. of Springfield Mass. A quick look at the photo will show the buyer how this late 19th century antique photo will quickly become the center of attention in any room. This picture is in perfect condition but the glass oval is broken at the bottom and the metal frames show the scratches of being in use for over 100 years. This young child, posed as cupid with her bow and arrows, features hand tinted blond curls and hand tinted pink cheeks. This cherub embodies the classic world of the 19th century.

Wooden Chest

This small dark wooden chest on legs appears to be a chest for holding shoe shine equipment.When cleaning it out, I found that the inside had a stain of shoe polish which came off with a damp cloth. This unusual vintage wooden chest sits 17 inches high and is one foot in depth. It has a small round wooden knob on the front and the chest has a hinged door. The finish is a dark stain and there are some chips in the wood as seen in the photo.
